Launch Countdown: 5…4…3…2…1…..

It’s been a long journey for Corey Risper as he prepares to launch his clothing line into Benjamin’s Surf & Skate shops this weekend. A journey that started back in 2009 for the former Air Traffic Controller with the spark of imagination to turn flight charts into fashion apparel.

His slogan, “What’s Your Approach?” is great because with each shirt comes a different city. Starting off with Corpus Christi, Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Corey has begun expanding this concept to the next level. This weekend he and I will be sporting “Wingman” hats, the first prototype for the hat line as well as the catch phrase “Wingman”, which is the first of several to be introduced throughout 2013 and 2014.

There’s A LOT of excitement going on for Corey Risper. We’re in the process of scheduling new photoshoots with the new tees and tanks, the Wingman hats, and pictures of the launch party! A new website is also in the works.

While the road to September 8, 2012 might not have been the easiest, Corey is thrilled to be opening a new door to this chapter and looks forward to the things to come!

#RoadTo200

Here’s my journey so far:

  1. 512 IPA (Austin, TX)
  2. Breckenridge Agave Wheat (Denver, CO)
  3. Karbach Barn Burner Saison (Houston, TX)
  4. Bornem Dubbel (Gent, Belgium)
  5. Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat (Chippewa Falls, WI)
  6. Saint Arnold Lawnmower (Houston, TX)
  7. New Belgium Ranger IPA (Fort Collins, CO)
  8. Souther Star Bombshell Blonde (Conroe, TX)
  9. Harpoon UFO White Ale (Boston, MA)
  10. Saint Arnold Endeavor (Houston, TX)
  11. Karbach Weisse Versa (Houston, TX)
  12. Blanche De Bruxelles (Quenast, Belgium)

The three beers I had last night were all so different from each other. I decided to start the night with an IPA and opted to go for the Saint Arnold Endeavor, a double IPA. After that I tried the Karbach Weisse Versa, a wheat beer that boasts about its German Hefe flavors + Belgian White beer flavors all in this one beer. I enjoyed it throroughly and have definitely put that one on my go-to list. The last beer of the night was the Blanche de Bruxelles, or as I like to refer to it : the beer with the naked baby holding its penis (that was on the draft lever thing, seriously).

I’m hoping to add beers 13-14-15 tomorrow with $3 Texas Beer Sundays and 16-17-18 on $3 Pint Night Mondays and look forward to doing a more indepth post about those adventures. You can also follow my adventure on Instagram (#roadto200), username being ceeteenuh, of course.

T-Minus 14 Days!

It’s OFFICIAL. The launch of Corey Risper inside Corpus Christi’s Benjamin’s Surf & Skate shops is slated for Monday, September 3rd Saturday, September 8th! I for one am super excited and you should be too for the following reasons:

  • NEW styles will be released for the fall line
  • Favorite designs will be available in SUPER soft and comfy tees
  • It is Corey’s birthday

Not only that but there are a TON of to-do’s on my drawing board and I cannot wait for the next 6-7 months! I’m talking sticker/buttons, shoes, hats, and special edition Spring Break items. *Phew*!

For the latest information, follow us on Twitter @CoreyRisper , LIKE us on Facebook, and check out the webpage!

What’s that?

Still haven’t kicked my artsy mood but I have been incredibly productive in coming up with some designs for Corey Risper and his upcoming launch! Super excited to be putting a little different spin on things and getting the approval. Now I just need to bust out my prismas instead of my crayolas and tidy up the designs to send over. exciting!! I of course am a huge fan of shoes and hats, so that is also on my agenda of brainstorms.

In other news, I have officially joined the UFO Club at Flying Saucer. For those who don’t know, Flying Saucer is “beer heaven” and has LOTS of beers from all over the world, a lot of Texas beers too! Once you drink 200 different beers you get a plate on their wall complete with your name and all. I think it’s a pretty big deal. I’ve been hashtagging it #roadto200 on both Twitter and Instagram and will doing a weekly blog about that journey and the beers I’ve drank. Credit for being an alcoholic beer lover? I’ll take it!

Another recent kick of mine is to start eating a lot healthier. Not only to slim off a few pounds or an inch or two off of my waist, but also to just be conscious of what I take in every day since I’ll be honest, I’m not that big of a work-out fan. I’ve done a pretty good job at staying around 1200 calories a day and have cut out A LOT of unhealthy snacking. I don’t include calories for what I drink, and I do my best to stick to 3 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day. Although my weight has been on a roller coaster the past month since I went out of town almost every other weekend, it’s finally back to a slightly normal routine. I will begin bike riding twice a day, hopefully next week, which will help with my intake and lack of a workout.

So far I’ve managed to substitute lettuce with spinach, eat subway 1 day a week at least 3x a week, and virtually cut out my sodas. Today for lunch I made a little chicken, cheese & spinach quesadilla, and am currently snacking on petite servings of pasta, egg, and fruit salads which will end up being my dinner too paired with a little bit of pasta.

So much is going on and I’m excited to fill you in! Look for individual updates SOON about the topics mentioned above! Can’t wait!

Next on the agenda: new shoes!

I have been in a real artsy mood lately and I need to kick it… not complaining that I’ve been wanting to get my hands dirty with glitter and paint and junk but I just haven’t had the mental mindset to devote towards any projects right now. I tend to be extremely a.d.d. when it comes to brainstorming ideas and honestly I have about 3 or 4 on my plate already. The shoes will be a fun and relaxing way to take my mind off of things and hopefully refocus it all.

I also have a pair of green and gold glitz slip ons that I’m thinking about stripping and turning them into solid back (or black glitter) canvas with hot pink or hot blue trim… bad memories associated with the green & gold ones so I don’t wear them anymore haha=)

I also want to do a print/cartoon slip on, but not sure if I want to spend the time creating the typical checkerboard or something totally different like tackling a black milk galaxy leggings inspired slip on.. ImageAbove all, I need to clear my mind from all of the stress associated with being unemployed (still) and the tedious hunt for a job because I need to get back on the ball with rolling out ideas for the Corey Risper drawing board. <<< #1 Priority (creative wise at least)

Oh, and another thing: my computer game addiction has kicked in again. SSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAVVVVVVVVVEEEEEE ME :(

Will post tomorrow with an update of my artsy fartsy kick… and hopefully some new shoes =)

Coming Soon: Women’s Off-Shoulder Dolman Top

A little over a week ago we got the fabulous news that starting September 3rd, Benjamin’s Surf & Skate will be carrying the Corey Risper line in their store at the La Palmera Mall in Corpus Christi, Texas. Not only that, but Corey Risper is looking at adding an Off-Shoulder Dolman Top to its Women’s collection making that the 4th style available for purchase along with its tank, v-neck, and tee.

We are also in the midst of preparing for the upcoming Coastal Bend Fashion Showcase which is a bi-annual event in Corpus Christi showcasing all of the local vendors along with some of the anchor stores of the mall. Either way, it is THE show to be in and we are excited again to be participating in it. Click this and skip ahead to 14:38 to see our last showcase!

All of this leads me to the question, what is YOUR favorite article of clothing to buy? Personally, I’m a hat person.. let me know! We’re always looking for ideas to take to the drawing boards!
